Program Information

Dear P41 Directors,

The Program Committee for the NCRR / NIBIB P41 PI meeting is pleased to invite you to the Annual PI meeting, which will take place in Bethesda on November 13 and 14, 2008. Arrival is on November 12. The theme of the meeting this year is "Multiscale Technologies for Biomedical Research". A preliminary program can be found on the website.

Please notice the following important points:

  1. The hotel will be the Hyatt in the Center of Bethesda, which is conveniently located with respect to the subway and local restaurants. A block of rooms at the government rate has been reserved in the Hyatt hotel (see travel information). These need to be booked by October 11, 2008. If not fully utilized, we will be liable and have to pay for them from the government grant. So please reserve these rooms in a timely manner.
  2. The program on the first day will be held in the Lister Hill Auditorium at the National Library of Medicine at the NIH Campus. This program will also be webcasted. Because we use the Lister Hill auditorium, registration will be limited to 150 participants from the resources and NIH staff will be added. We therefore advise you to register as soon as possible. If registration goes above 150, it may be necessary to limit attendance to two per resource, but we advise you to register whoever you want first as some sites may have only one representative.
  3. In addition to user and PI talks, each resource has the opportunity to present a poster. We are asking you to highlight scientific progress in your resource and are requesting an abstract (New Deadline October 1) and poster. Abstracts will be posted on-line at the NIH website.
    Note that the focus of abstracts and posters should be on one or two scientific projects, not on the services provided. Abstracts will be checked for this and may be returned.

  4. New this year is that we are asking you to R.S.V.P. for Dinner on November 13 and for the working lunch for November 14. The reason is that we have to pay per person. A significant fraction of the attendees did not attend one of these two events last year and the availability of an accurate count will provide a large savings in conference expenses. As such, lunch and dinner tickets will be provided with your badge upon pickup, no late registration is possible.
